The County Treasurer's Office is responsible for:
- Processing all motor vehicle registrations.
- Accepting and processing payment of real estate and personal property taxes.
- Distributing monies to all the taxing entities at the County and State level.
- Investing of Idle funds.
The County Treasurer is an agent for the State of Kansas for motor vehicle titles and tags. Neosho County does not provide a driver's license service because there is a Kansas Highway Patrol station in our county in Chanute.
Real Estate and Personal Property taxes are due by December 21, 2020. If you opt to pay taxes in two halves, the second half is due by May 11, 2021. Your statement will have two detachable stubs at the bottom, one for the first half payment and one for the second half payment. No second-half statements are sent.
Online Property Tax Payments
Online property tax payments are now available. You will need your tax statement to complete this process. Tax statements were mailed on November 19, 2020.

Updated: December 3, 2020
The Neosho County Treasurer's Office is open to the public. This does not include our Sub-Station, located in Chanute.
While in the courthouse lobby, the public needs to follow social distancing guidelines which require them to remain at least 6 feet away from others in the courthouse and they are encouraged to wear facemasks. If you are feeling ill or running a fever please stay home. The public is still encouraged to do business with county offices by mail, online, email, or by telephone whenever possible to help keep everyone safe.
The above and the following are subject to change.
We currently have limited services pertaining to Out-of-State, Non-Highway, and Salvage/Rebuilt Salvage title work. We cannot complete these particular types of title work without the MVE-1 inspection provided by the Kansas Highway Patrol or their designees. Most Kansas Highway Patrol officers and their designees are not open to the public for VIN inspections at this time.
We would like to remind you that you can renew your vehicles online at iKan. There will be additional information necessary to do so. Please visit the Kansas Revenue website to read what you may need or call the office at 620-244-3800. We do not process driver's licenses at the Treasurer's Office, there is a driver's license office located in Chanute. We are working diligently to process mail and online registration renewals the same day that they are received.
You may also renew your vehicle registration by mail, please include a copy of your current insurance card.
You may pay real estate and personal property taxes, with check, cashier's check, or money order, by mail. If you have delinquent 2019 real estate taxes, 2019 personal property, or any other tax years that are delinquent, please contact us for the total amount due. There has been no extension made to the deadline for the 2020 first half of Real Estate and Personal Property tax payments. The due date for the first half payment is December 21, 2020. We do not have the authority at our local level to make a change to this deadline. The due dates for Real Estate and Personal Property tax payments are set by state statute. We accept payments postmarked by December 21, 2020, as current and on-time payments for the 2020 first half tax payments.
